Description

AlphaTRAK 2 Blood Glucose Test Strips are designed to be used with AlphaTRAK 2 meters, once the strips provided with the original kits run out. These test strips are accurate, easy to use and produce accurate results within seconds. These strips were specially designed to test blood sugar in dogs and cats and require a very small blood sample, reducing the stress of testing on you and your pet.

Key Benefits
  • Compatible with both the AlphaTRAK or AlphaTRAK 2 meters, so you never have to run out of test strips.
  • Get the accurate results you need in just seconds.
  • Only requires a small blood sample for you and your companion's convenience.
  • Test strips are suitable for both dogs and cats.
  • Close monitoring helps you and your veterinarian give your companion the treatment they need when they need it.
Precautions

Keep the test strip and cap away from children. Drying agents may be harmful if inhaled or swallowed and may cause skin or eye irritation.

Instructions

1. Set Up

Insert a test strip into the meter. The meter will automatically turn on. Enter the appropriate CODE for the species being tested or on the strip vial.

NOTE: Use appropriate code recommended for each species in the table below.

Species CODE for AlphaTRAK 2 Meter
CAT See code identified on the vial.
DOG See code identified on the vial.

2. Perform the Test

Please use standard sampling techniques for obtaining blood in all species. The AlphaTRAK Lancet may be used to obtain the correct size blood sample. Refer to the AlphaTRAK Blood Glucose Monitoring System User Guide or veterinarian/veterinary surgeon for blood sampling instructions.

When the prompt to apply the sample appears on the screen, lance the site chosen, and obtain a blood sample about the size of a pinhead (0.3 microlitres of blood).

Gently touch only one edge of the test strip to the blood sample.

The test strip may be filled from either side, but not both sides. When the strip is full, the meter will "beep" or you will see the moving lines on the display.

Do not press the edge of the strip against the test site. Do not put the sample on top of the sample target area.

3. Read Results

Results are displayed in an average of 15 seconds. The test time may vary depending on the blood glucose level. The results will be stored in the meter memory. Results are displayed as mg/dL (milligrams per decilitre) in the USA or in mmol/L (millimole per litre) or mg/dL outside the USA.

Store the test strip package in a dry place between 40° - 86°F.

If you need these? You are in for the ride of your life.

I was devastated when I heard my cat was diabetic. Not only was he sick, he had been a cranky untouchable cat his entire 11 years...but he was mine to love. I was determined he have the best quality of whatever time he had left. Being a nurse for over 40 years I KNEW the trials we were up against....and the expense. I bought the AlphaTRAK 2 elsewhere used but turned to Chewy for fresh supplies. I have been a long term customer for my OTHER cat prone to urinary stones. Lucky me. TWO cats on prescription diets. Test strips were shipped quick, expiration date 03/2023, plenty of testing time. Being a nurse I ran more than one control "just to see" if they worked as they should. They DID! EXCELLENT response with the tiniest amount of blood sample. (yes I did that twice too). I could not be a pet parent without Chewy especially now with this added expense of Insulin, food, and testing supplies. My advise? Read, learn, be involved in the care of your diabetic pet. It does get a little easier, and so worth it. My cat Pica, is actually a little less cranky as if he knows I am trying to help him feel better. … more

    They work but they're expensive.

By Strips on Dec 3, 2021

These work fine, it's just they are so expensive. You would think that with there being two pick up points (the black spots below the butterfly) that they could be used to take 2 readings. Nope, won't work. And buying in bulk doesn't save anything, they're going to cost at least $1 each no matter how you buy them.

    Getting pharmacy info

By Olias on Oct 15, 2021

Product was right, cost was in line. Many times the sales rep does not know what the pharmacy has and they will not connect you directly to the pharmacy so it can be very confusing and can take a long time going back and forth to get the product you need. Originally I was told that refills are not available, and that you will need to buy a new reader every time you want more test strips.

By Femanal on Sep 21, 2021

I was so happy to be able to find AlphaTrak blood glucose testing strips for my cat at such a reasonable price. Plus the shipping was so conveniently fast it showed up a couple of days before the scheduled delivery date.

    Repeat purchaser

By RobC on Aug 21, 2021

We use the AplhaTrak2 for our cat. We believe in using the OEM strips and not the generic. They work as expected EVERY time you use them. Even though there is temptation to save money using the generic strips, these ones are worth what you pay for them to get the ease of use of the monitor and the accurate readings

    Great Product

By Aliboop on Aug 9, 2021

I have my second diabetic dog. These strips are always dependable. I never worry if they will fail a reading, causing an additional stick like the generic test strips. I wish they weren't so pricey but well worth the peace of mind! I only deducted one star because of price.

Accurate & Easy - requires less blood to test

By OdinApproves on Jun 17, 2021

These might be pricey compared to other market options but it's reliable and I appreciate not needing much blood to draw for a good sample. I've had veterinarians use this tracker in their clinic which was good enough for me! We like to use the rice sock when drawing on carpals and mostly test from under his lip. I try to keep it like a game. In the photo, I asked him for his royal paw and gave it a little peck after. He appreciated the praise.

    Great for monitoring

By HouseOfPurrs on Sep 26, 2021

Our cat gets tested once in morning & again in evening to determine if he requires his insulin shot-- these are great for doing so.
